More about leaving a gift in your Will

Not at all, the process is straightforward. You can amend your Will by making an amendment (known as a codicil) with a solicitor.

To ensure your gift goes to Age International, we suggest you use the following wording. Please use our charity name and charity number. We advise you to consult a solicitor to ensure your wishes are carried out exactly as you intend.

For a share of your estate (also known as a Residuary Gift):
‘I give the residue of/__% share of my estate to Age International, 7th Floor, One America Square, 17 Crosswall, London, EC3N 2LB (Registered Charity No. 1128267-8) for its general charitable purposes. I further direct that the receipt of the Chief Executive or other proper officer of the said charity for the time being shall be a full and sufficient discharge for the said gift.’

For a fixed sum of money (also known as a Pecuniary Gift):
‘I give the sum of £___ (or the item specified) to Age International, 7th Floor, One America Square, 17 Crosswall, London, EC3N 2LB (Registered Charity No. 1128267-8) for its general charitable purposes. I further direct that the receipt of the Chief Executive or other proper officer of the said charity for the time being shall be a full and sufficient discharge for the said gift.’

Please note that in 2009 Age Concern merged with Help the Aged to form Age UK. In 2012 the sister charity of Age UK, Age International was founded to help older people worldwide living in extreme poverty.

If your Will names Age Concern or Help the Aged, any gift you choose to leave will come to Age UK. Age UK will use the gift to fund work helping older people wherever the need is greatest at the time. This could include work locally in the UK, Age UK’s national services or to help fund international projects and programmes.

If you would like to leave the whole of your gift to Age International, please ask your solicitor to change it to the suggested wording specified above.
